ASVAB timing depends on the format. Do not assume one universal duration for every candidate. CAT-ASVAB and paper-and-pencil ASVAB are administered differently, and timing/question counts can vary by format.

The official CAT-ASVAB reference currently lists 135 questions and a maximum aggregate test time of 197 minutes, but many candidates finish sooner. Paper-and-pencil testing follows a different structure.

How to practise timing

Use the ASVAB Practice Test to build accuracy first, then add timing pressure. If you are weak in math or verbal sections, speed practice alone will not solve the issue. Study the relevant ASVAB sections and return to timed blocks after the method is clearer.
