This is QZ9 IT Certification Exam Prep. In this episode, we are looking at CompTIA Security Plus SY0-701 threat concepts and how to reason through practice questions without relying on memorized definitions alone.

Security Plus questions often describe a behavior, symptom, or business impact before asking for the best term or response. For threats, start by identifying what is being targeted: credentials, data, availability, users, systems, or trust. Then look at how the attack works. Is the attacker tricking a person, exploiting software, intercepting traffic, or abusing legitimate access?

Phishing is about deception and credential or information theft. Ransomware is about denying access to data or systems until a demand is met. A denial-of-service attack targets availability. An insider threat involves someone with authorized access using it in a harmful or careless way. Supply chain attacks target a trusted vendor, package, update, or dependency rather than attacking the victim directly.

The exam also expects you to distinguish vulnerabilities from threats and controls. A vulnerability is a weakness. A threat is a potential cause of harm. A control is something used to reduce risk. In a practice question, confusing these three categories leads to wrong answers even when you know the vocabulary.

For performance-based or scenario questions, read the evidence first. Logs, symptoms, user reports, and timing usually point to the answer. Avoid choosing the most dramatic option if a simpler explanation matches the facts.

QZ9 has 410 practice questions available for SY0-701.
This is QZ9 IT Certification Exam Prep. Today we are covering the AWS Cloud Practitioner shared responsibility model without trying to memorize a chart.

The shared responsibility model separates what AWS manages from what the customer manages. A simple way to remember it is this: AWS is responsible for security of the cloud, and the customer is responsible for security in the cloud. That phrase is useful, but practice questions require more detail.

AWS manages the physical facilities, hardware, networking infrastructure, and foundational services that operate the cloud platform. The customer manages choices made inside the account: identity and access management, data classification, encryption choices, application configuration, and network rules such as security groups.

The service type changes how much the customer manages. With Amazon EC2, the customer has more responsibility for the operating system, patches, and installed software. With managed services, AWS handles more of the underlying administration, but the customer still controls access, data, and configuration decisions.

A common exam trap is assuming AWS is responsible for everything because it is a cloud service. If a question asks who controls user permissions, password policy, exposed storage, or overly permissive access, the customer is usually responsible. If it asks about physical server replacement or data center security, that belongs to AWS.

When answering practice questions, ask two questions. Is this about the underlying cloud platform, or is it about how the customer configured and used a service? Then consider whether the service is infrastructure, platform, or managed.

This is QZ9 IT Certification Exam Prep. This episode is about CCNA subnetting and how to solve practice questions faster without turning every question into a long math exercise.

Subnetting becomes easier when you stop treating it as isolated arithmetic. In CCNA-style questions, the real task is usually to identify the network, broadcast address, usable host range, or whether two addresses are in the same subnet. The mask tells you the block size, and the block size tells you where the subnet boundaries are.

For IPv4, memorize the useful block sizes for the last interesting octet. A slash twenty-four has a block size of one in the third octet? No. Think carefully: slash twenty-four means the first three octets are fixed, and the last octet contains host addresses. A slash twenty-six gives block sizes of sixty-four in the last octet: zero, sixty-four, one twenty-eight, and one ninety-two. Once you see those boundaries, the usable range becomes straightforward.

A practical method is to find the increment first. If the mask is 255.255.255.224, the increment is thirty-two. Then locate the subnet boundary below the given host address. An address ending in seventy sits in the sixty-four subnet, with broadcast ninety-five and usable hosts sixty-five through ninety-four.

Common mistakes include including the network address as a host, including the broadcast address as a host, or using the wrong octet. Another mistake is rushing when the question asks for the next subnet instead of the current subnet.

QZ9 has 479 practice questions available for CCNA. Practice CCNA questions at the QZ9 practice test page, and focus on explaining your subnet boundary before checking the answer.
Practice more CCNA questions on QZ9: https://www.qz9.com/practice-tests/cisco/ccna

This is QZ9 IT Certification Exam Prep. Today we are looking at AZ-104, the Microsoft Azure Administrator exam, from the point of view of scenario reading.

AZ-104 questions often feel longer than fundamentals questions because they describe an existing Azure environment. You may see resource groups, virtual networks, storage accounts, identities, policies, or monitoring requirements. The fastest candidates do not read these scenarios as stories. They read them as constraints.

First, identify the administrative goal. Is the question asking you to secure access, deploy a resource, troubleshoot connectivity, automate a task, or monitor a service? Then separate facts that matter from details that are just context. For example, a question may mention a subscription, two resource groups, and several users, but the real issue might be role-based access control at the correct scope.

For identity questions, pay close attention to scope and least privilege. If a user needs to manage one resource group, a subscription-wide role is usually too broad. If a workload needs access to another Azure resource, managed identity may be cleaner than storing credentials.

For networking, draw the path mentally. Source, destination, subnet, network security group, route, and name resolution all matter. Many wrong answers are plausible Azure features placed at the wrong layer.

For storage and backup questions, watch for durability, access tier, retention, and recovery requirements. The exam often rewards the answer that satisfies the requirement with the least unnecessary administration.

QZ9 has 220 practice questions available for AZ-104. Use them to practice reading constraints before choosing an answer.
This is QZ9 IT Certification Exam Prep. In this episode, we are focusing on AZ-900 cloud concepts, the part of Microsoft Azure Fundamentals that many candidates underestimate.

Cloud concepts are not about memorizing slogans. You need to understand why organizations use cloud computing, what changes when resources are rented instead of owned, and how availability, scalability, elasticity, reliability, and security show up in practical questions. A typical AZ-900 question may describe a company with seasonal traffic, limited hardware budget, or a requirement to recover from failure. The answer usually depends on matching the business need to the cloud idea, not on spotting one keyword.

Start with the difference between capital expense and operating expense. If a question emphasizes avoiding large upfront infrastructure purchases, cloud computing usually supports an operating expense model. If it emphasizes rapid growth or unpredictable demand, think about scalability and elasticity. Scalability means the environment can grow or shrink. Elasticity means it can respond quickly to demand, often automatically.

Also separate high availability from disaster recovery. High availability keeps a service running when a component fails. Disaster recovery is about restoring service after a larger outage. That difference matters in practice-style questions because both sound like reliability, but they solve different problems.

A common mistake is to answer every cloud question with cost savings. Cloud can reduce some costs, but AZ-900 expects a more precise answer. Sometimes the best reason is speed, global reach, resilience, or operational flexibility.

When you practice, read the scenario first, then identify the problem being solved. Is it cost model, scaling, uptime, governance, or responsibility? QZ9 has 260 practice questions available for AZ-900. You can practice more AZ-900 questions at the QZ9 practice test page.
