The AFQT score is based on selected ASVAB areas: Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, Word Knowledge, and Paragraph Comprehension. That makes those sections a practical starting point for many candidates.
ASVAB also includes additional aptitude sections that can influence career-field qualification. A strong study plan should not treat the whole exam as one score. Review math, verbal, science, mechanical, electronics, and other aptitude areas separately.
How to review scores
After an ASVAB Practice Test, write down which section produced the most wrong answers. Then return to the ASVAB sections page and study that area directly.
Do not compare CAT-ASVAB timing to paper timing without checking the format. The ASVAB test format and timing page explains why one universal time limit is not accurate.
