AI-901 Exam Objectives

The current AI-901 objective groups for Azure AI Fundamentals.

AI-901 is organized around two large areas. The first checks whether you understand AI concepts and capabilities. The second checks whether you can recognize how Microsoft Foundry is used to implement AI solutions. That split is important: the exam is not only vocabulary, and it is not only tooling.

Objective areas to cover

  • AI concepts and capabilities: 40-45%. Study machine learning ideas, natural language processing, computer vision, generative AI, agents, responsible AI principles, and where different AI approaches are useful.
  • Implement AI solutions using Microsoft Foundry: 55-60%. Review model selection, prompt and agent workflows, solution evaluation, grounding, safety, deployment, monitoring, and the lifecycle of an AI application.

Use these objectives as a checklist after every AI-901 Practice Test. If your mistakes are about terms, return to the AI-901 study guide. If your mistakes involve choosing the right implementation approach, spend more time comparing Foundry workflows and how they support generative AI solutions.
