AWS Cloud Practitioner Study Guide

A clear study path for CLF-C02 cloud concepts, AWS services, security, pricing, and support.

AWS Cloud Practitioner is a foundations exam. It is designed for people who need broad AWS Cloud knowledge rather than deep architecture, coding, implementation, or troubleshooting. That means your preparation should focus on recognition, vocabulary, service categories, and the business reasons behind cloud decisions.

What to study first

Start with cloud value: elasticity, scalability, reliability, pay-as-you-go pricing, and the AWS global infrastructure. Then study security and compliance, especially the shared responsibility model and basic identity concepts. After that, learn the major service families: compute, storage, databases, networking, analytics, integration, migration, and management tools. Finish with billing, pricing, support plans, cost tools, and the Well-Architected Framework at a high level.

Use the AWS Cloud Practitioner Practice Test after each area. If you miss a question, classify it by domain instead of memorizing the answer. Most improvement comes from knowing why AWS asks about cost, security, support, or service selection in a scenario.

Use service names carefully

Cloud Practitioner questions often give several familiar AWS names. The right choice depends on category and use case. Before selecting an answer, decide whether the question is asking for compute, storage, database, networking, security, monitoring, migration, billing, or support. That simple sorting step removes many distractors.

Good CLF-C02 preparation also means knowing what is out of scope. You are not expected to perform deep troubleshooting or write production code for this foundational exam. You are expected to explain AWS value, identify service categories, understand shared responsibility, and choose high-level answers that match common customer needs.
