CCNA Exam Format and Passing Score

Format context for Cisco CCNA preparation.

Cisco describes the 200-301 CCNA exam as a 120-minute exam covering the six CCNA domains. QZ9 does not need to invent a passing score to make practice useful. What matters during preparation is whether you can read a scenario, identify the network function involved, and choose the answer that matches how the network should behave.

The format rewards steady reasoning. A question about a routing table is different from a question about a wireless architecture or a security control, but each one is easier when you first identify the domain. That is why the CCNA exam objectives should stay close while you review simulator results.

How to review a CCNA simulator session

After a CCNA Practice Test, group mistakes into routing, switching, services, security, or automation. For routing misses, write the path decision. For switching misses, draw the VLAN or trunk behavior. For services, ask what the service changes in the network. That style of review is slower than clicking through another session, but it improves the next attempt.

If you are still early in preparation, return to the CCNA study guide and rebuild one weak domain before testing again.

For later sessions, pay attention to why an answer is wrong. CCNA distractors often describe a real feature used in the wrong layer, the wrong direction, or the wrong operational moment. Learning to reject those options is part of exam readiness.

Keep final practice realistic: read the question, identify the layer or feature, predict the answer, then compare the choices. That order reduces second-guessing and makes review much cleaner.
